Create crosswords online12/15/2023 ![]() about puzzling.)Īnother place to sell your crossword puzzles is puzzle book publishers. Here’s one you could take a look at: Clarity Media at (Their website also has lots of useful info. There are also some puzzle agencies which write crossword puzzles for selling on to the publishing industry. So be sure to check some back issues before you write specifically for that publication. It’s also sometimes the case that the grid pattern is EXACTLY the same with every crossword, just rotated a different way or a mirror image and so on. One more tip when compiling puzzles for newspapers: They tend to have a fixed grid size which they’re very reluctant to change. And this could be your foot in the door to get a job as in-house compiler in future. But don’t be put off approaching those who do… they still buy puzzles from freelancers sometimes. Larger newspapers and magazines tend to have regular, in-house crossword compilers. Start with smaller publications… not with The Times and so on! Most magazines and lots of magazines have crossword puzzles and might be interested in buying your puzzles. Also, some buyers prefer crossword puzzles that haven’t been created by a computer – so always check first. You can use these if you wish (although the good ones tend to be quite expensive). If you’re into crossword puzzling you might know that you can actually get computer programs to help you create and/or solve crossword puzzles. Just look up whatever your clue is and get a list of words which mean something similar and which could be the basis of your clue. You can either buy one or find one free online. Need word help? Get a thesaurus.Ī thesaurus is a really handy way of finding clue ideas for crosswords. Most crosswords either have simple clues or cryptic clues – don’t mix both types in the same crossword. Now the fun begins! The next stage is to create a clue for each word. Divide these into two lists, one of ‘Across’ words and another of ‘Down’ words. Once your grid is complete number every square that contains the first letter of a word. ![]() Number every square that contains the letter of a word Finish off by filling in the spaces with a blank. Now try to fit in the smaller words around them. Pick five or six of the longer words from your list and try and link them together in the centre of the page, starting with a horizontal. Avoid too many words that use Z, Q and X for the same reason! 4. Try and choose words which include lots of ‘often used’ letters… such as the vowels A, E, I, O, U plus S, T, L, M, N… which will be easier to fit together. Include both long and short words… but don’t have many words under four letters. (But you don’t necessarily need to use them all.) 3. ![]() This will be your ‘word bank’, to draw words from for your puzzle. Now write a long list of words which relate to your theme. But it will make it much easier to come up with words and clues. You don’t necessarily have to reveal what your theme is to your readers. For example something like history, or geography, travel, film and TV or famous people etc. Start by thinking of a theme for your puzzle. Here are seven tips on how to write crosswords: 1. You don’t need to be especially good at English. Especially good if you’re a dedicated crossword puzzler. This could be a great sideline opportunity for you. So there is a healthy demand for people to write and sell crossword puzzles. After the front and back page, the sport and the TV sections it’s high up on the list of ‘most read’ pages. You might not realize it, but the crossword is still one of the most popular parts of many newspapers… with lots of people buying a copy for that reason alone.

Rise of automaton fallout 412/15/2023 ![]() ![]() They often have the basic build of an assaultron, but with more lethal melee weapons like swords, and because they can close distance quickly you should be aiming for limbs and dodging those melee attacks for all you’re worth. Scrapbots in Fallout 4 Automatronĭespite the name indicating that they’re poorly constructed, scrapbots are pretty hardy and can put up a hell of a fight. Robobrains have significantly more health and move faster than some of the other robots, but they’re also a huge target so you can easily hit them even if you’re not in V.A.T.S. It’s a pain in the arse, blurring your vision and knocking you off balance, but it’s telegraphed as a massive glowing blue ring and is easy to avoid. They have the same Mesmotron attack in Automatron that they did in previous games, which sends a pulse towards you that will concuss you if you’re hit. ![]() They’re robots with offensive capabilities that are powered by a living human brain (which is a more efficient way of both storing information and running programmes than a standard computer chip). Robobrains have been present from the very beginning of the Fallout series, and are hideous fusions of man and machine that prewar scientists wrought in their infinite hubris. If you encounter some tougher ones keep moving to avoid their weapons and send your companion in to draw fire. They can have a number of different weapons, from energy guns to standard ballistics, cryo, or flamethrowers. The basic models usually go down in one shot and the stronger iterations not much more, so as long as you don’t get overwhelmed these guys shouldn’t present much of a problem. Junkbots are basically perambulatory engines. You do, however, often get a few of them popping up at once backing up the other robots, so take them out first to make life a little easier for yourself. They’ll go down in one or two hits, and are more annoying than they are an actual threat. They’re basically loudspeakers that can move, but in Automatron you’ll run into weaponised ones that can fire energy weapons. These have very high damage and armour when compared to their clunkier brethren, and if you take all of their weaponised limbs they’ll sometimes have an inbuilt ‘run at enemy and explode’ subroutine.Įyebot is the actual name for the little flying colanders you see every so often, playing the radio or other announcements to nobody in particular. The one to really watch out for, however, are the Quantum robots. If there isn’t one then you’re alright, but an ‘Integrated Junkbot’ is going to take a few more hits, as will a ‘Servomech Junkbot’. In the case of the robots in Automatron you can tell how much of a challenge they’re likely to be by whether there’s a word in front of their name. Not all robots are created equal, because they’re literally put together from bits of metal and so on. ![]() Different robot difficulties in Fallout 4 Automatron They’re also weaker to body shots than they are to head shots. Remember that in general robots are more susceptible to energy damage and don’t take any any damage from radiation. This means that combat is sadly inevitable, so to give you the heads up on what you’ll be facing here’s a guide to the enemies in Automatron, and what to expect from them. The Automatron DLC introduces a whole host of new robotic enemies to the Commonwealth, some that you may’ve seen in previous Fallout games, and some that are unique to this DLC, but they’re all on a misguided quest to kill every human they come across.

Obama brexit nytimes12/15/2023 To date, the UK’s trade deals – there have been more than 70 – have been either copy and pastes of the ones they had as a member of the EU or in some cases inimical to UK interests. Prioritising the restoration of powersharing in the North is merely an extension of his politics and not, as Foster or Gardiner claim, an act of “anti-Britishness”. Peace processīiden, however, sees the North’s peace process as one of the crowning achievements of US foreign policy and an embodiment of a stable world order now under threat from Russia and China. “Yet the harsh reality remains that America today is led by a petty and at times vindictive president, who thinks nothing of lecturing Britain over its Northern Ireland policy, and issuing stark warnings to Downing Street that a US/UK trade deal will not be on the agenda unless it plays ball over Irish issues and the EU,” Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom at the Heritage Foundation, said. Having White House officials deny Biden “hates the United Kingdom” on the back of assertions by former Democratic Unionist Party leader Arlene Foster hasn’t helped matters and seems an ocean away from the “special relationship” the UK normally talks about when a US president visits.ĭaily Telegraph contributor Nile Gardiner echoed Foster’s comments, claiming Biden had “gravely insulted” the UK by lecturing it on Ireland and for his refusal to attend the forthcoming coronation of King Charles III. Brexiteers wanted out of the EU Trump wanted anything that would destabilise the EU. They’ve been on a different setting since Brexit, reflecting the link between Brexiteers and former president Donald Trump. It’s clear that UK relations with Washington are strained. Sunak is understood to have raised the issue with President Biden in Belfast last week but talk of a major trade deal appears off the agenda for now. The US is Britain’s second-largest market behind the EU. Such a deal is aimed at providing UK companies, particularly car exporters, with access to some of the large green subsidies offered under President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act. UK prime minister Rishi Sunak is understood to be pushing for narrower pact covering “critical minerals” – used in the manufacture of technologies such as mobile phones, computers and semiconductors – in tandem with other countries and the EU. It literally hasn’t been mentioned since Brexiteers took power, something the opposition is bizarrely quiet about. ![]() A trade deal with the US – the jewel in the Brexit crown – is not even on the agenda. ![]() Either way, Obama’s warning has proved accurate.

Vector to raster scan converter12/15/2023 ![]() This technical report documents much of the work done under LDRD 07-ERD-063 Storage Intensive Supercomputing during the period 05/07-09/07. Our goal is to enable applications that simply cannot run on current systems, and, for a broad range of data-intensive problems, to deliver an order of magnitude improvement in price/performance over today's data-intensive architectures. This project addresses efficient computation of data-intensive problems in national security and basic science by exploring, advancing, and applying a new form of computing called storage-intensive supercomputing (SISC). « lessĬritical data science applications requiring frequent access to storage perform poorly on today's computing architectures. The vector generator scan converter eliminates the bottleneck created by the I/O channel for transmitting graphics data from the main processor to the laser printer, and increases printer speed up to thirty fold. The vector generator scan converter includes a microprocessor with associated microcode memory containing a microcode instruction set, a working memory for storing compressed data, vector generator hardware for drawing a full graphic image from vector parameters calculated by the microprocessor, image buffer memory for storing the more » reconstructed graphics image and an output scanner for reading the graphics image data and inputting the data to the printer. This patent describes high printing speeds for graphics data that are achieved with a laser printer by transmitting compressed graphics data from a main processor over an I/O (input/output) channel to a vector generator scan converter which reconstructs a full graphics image for input to the laser printer through a raster data input port. Apple fifth avenue 5th avenue new york ny12/15/2023 ![]() Rather than continue walking down Fifth Avenue we took the Fifth Avenue bus down to 46th Streets viewing all the buildings and decorations. We actually started out at 59th & Fifth Avenue after a walk through Central Park with a stop to gander at the famous Plaza Hotel(remember Home Alone 2?) and the spectacular holiday windows of Goodman-Bergdorf. And don’t forget to turn around to see Rockefeller Center and the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. Do check out the holiday light show in front of Saks Fifth Avenue if nothing else. In all, we had a great trip and needed to come back home to get some rest!Ī walk or ride along Fifth Avenue especially during the holidays is a special treat. It was easy and efficient, though the concierge at our hotel did tell us not to take the subway at night. We took the subway back home for that experience. ![]() We rode the bus to the tip of Manhattan to see the sites along the way, walked around the World Trade Center memorials stunning, sad, thought provoking. The poor security guys have to tell hundreds of tourists daily that they may not wander around the Art Deco building since tourist websites have not been updated to reflect the buildings closure - bummer. The Chrysler Building is NOT OPEN to the public since the start of COVID. the NY Public Library is very cool and free, Grand Central Station is gorgeous. We also spent time looking at some very cool buildings and art, etc. Just go to the NBC website to sign up for tickets. It was totally worth doing, but just know an entire afternoon is lost in the process. The down side? Start to finish it took about four hours for a one-hour show. It was really fun to go behind the scenes and see how this all happens. We also got tickets (free) to be in the audience for a taping of the Seth Meyers Show. The acting, singing, and dancing at the Broadway show was great, but the storyline was ridiculous interspersing a bunch of vocabulary words designed to make 12 year old boys giggle stupid and would not recommend that particular show. The game was a squeaker so really fun to be part of the crowd even though we really didn't have a favorite team. We used Seat Geek to get cheaper tickets to an NCAA basketball game at Madison Square Garden and tickets to The Book of Mormon on Broadway. We didn't get any real details but, from a security guard, word is that the sculpture is not structurally sound enough for lots of people to be walking on it simultaneously - bummer! It is still worth seeing close up, as is The Edge, a clear promontory high up a skyscraper where you can walk out onto it and look at the tiny, tiny people below. We loved walking around Chelsea on the High Line, having lunch in Chelsea Market, seeing the Vessel a gigantic walkable sculpture recently discussed on Sunday Morning, however, it is no longer walkable. ![]() I did a lot of planning ahead of time so we could focus on a different area of the city each day.

Tight spot quiver black a.d crimson12/14/2023 ![]() Keeps the bow simple- sight, rest and quivalizer, nothing more. Quivalizer may not be for everyone- but I'm grateful my brother-in-law turned me on to it- for me it's awesome, it's an excellent product very well made and thought out and I'm very happy with it. she does not have back/side bar though which would need added to get the balance right on it for me- which means adding more weight. My baby girls bow has typical side mount quiver with a stabilizer- I have to torque it to shoot and find I'm fighting that on every shot which effects accuracy. It just "feels right" if that makes sense. Balance feels great and pulls up naturally, I don't find myself having to "torque" the bow or my arm to get it leveled. The stability and balance is awesome for me. Running it out front I practice/shoot with 4 arrows so it's same as I would be hunting with idea being the 5th arrow would be at draw on an an animal. That's how I feel with all side mounted quivers though- it is a lot of weight on side effecting balance-and like quoted above, I'm not a fan of adding extra weight just to balance it out again. I will likely never run it on the side of bow- it is amazing how much it throws off the balance. Quality/fit/finish is excellent- you can tell there is a lot of thought into this thing. I went with the 5 arrow black molded with the adjustable arrow grippers. I get it's a love it or hate it thing- but Man, I ordered it up and have to say I do love this thing! I ordered direct off Dan's site and it was at my house in 2 days. He switched to one years ago and has been very happy with it. Click to expand.I just got my new Solution SS and brother-in-law recommended I "open my mind" and take a look at the Quivalizer as well.
